"It sometimes can seem like #FOSS is dominated by greybeards but, so it appears, the future is in safe (albeit annoyingly youthful) hands. It is obvious that a great deal of care an attention has gone in to making #FOSDEM a welcoming and safe environment."

You would assume at least one user would have tried using the `kill` command but nope, just running `systemd` commands eh ?

*Allegedly* scrapes.

As is usual for the claims against China, verifiable evidence is generally lacking.

Heeey! I'm so happy to finally take a step into this world—I'm very excited! ✨

I work as a musician and sound artist in experimental electronic music, and I love exploring different kinds of voices—the human, the cybernetic, the environmental, the imaginary, and so on. I find it very inspiring to delve into archival material and the many stories connected to human memory.

Interested in #DigitalPreservation and #archiving? The @muckrock team is looking for volunteers for their #DataLiberation project.

"Since 2022, the Data Liberation Project — a volunteer effort led by data journalist Jeremy Singer-Vine — has used [Freedom of Information Act] laws and web scraping to make a wide range of government data sets public and usable.

Their efforts have helped newsrooms and the public keep an eye on [Transportation Security Administration] complaints, explore data on over 58,000 boating accidents and examine an expansive collection of hazardous material transportation reports."

But you seem to be considering it.

I would hope that I could completely cut all ties to Google and its subsidiaries.

in reply to Ulrik Nyman ⬡

@UlrikNyman I had been on Odysee, but they recently had changes that made it more trouble than it’s worth. I’ve been posting clips and segments to MSN’s homepage feed. But I haven’t found a great alternative to YouTube yet. If anyone has suggestions, I’m all ears.
in reply to Matt Ferrell

I have not used it yet, but people here on Mastodon are promoting PeerTube peertube.tv/
in reply to Matt Ferrell

Maybe @peertube has some how to get started guides.

I think these platforms do not have any direct monetization, but that you can surely embed you own sponsorships like you usually do in the videos.

in reply to Matt Ferrell

I just installed the @peertube app on my android phone.
The install was easy and I was able to play videos immediately. The discovery of content did not seem good yet.

But I was able to find @thelinuxEXP easily and started watching his most recent video.

in reply to Ulrik Nyman ⬡

@UlrikNyman @peertube @thelinuxEXP Oh yeah, I looked at Peertube about a year ago (discovery seemed like a big challenge). I need to take another look.

I know this will sound like a ridiculous ask. I really struggle with this sort of thing. Any possibility someone would be willing to give me a script? I'll read it over and ensure I agree with it before I use it.
in reply to Miakoda

@hellomiakoda I can make a suggestion!
Hi, this is [NAME] from [TOWN], [ZIP CODE] zip code. I am calling to ask my Senator to do every single thing in their power to stop, or slow down, this coup. Please vote NO on every nominee, take every administrative action possible to protect us from these illegal actions.

You can add any other details that feel right to you but the basic formula is:
Name, zip code, specific action requested.
Additional details: feelings, personal impact/experience.
