Google pulls incorrect Gouda stat from its AI Super Bowl ad

Gemini’s response no longer says that Gouda makes up ‘50 to 60 percent of the world’s cheese consumption.‘

The r/linkedinlunatics subreddit really is disturbing. I already viewed LI as myspace for office drones, but now it's covered in weird tech bro, “I get people rich" charlatans?

What is even happening.

ErinInTheMorning [Feb 5] -- The US State Dept has begun scrubbing mentions of trans people from its website, changing "LGBTQQIA+" to "LGB" in what appears to be a clear attempt to drive a wedge between gay and trans people. [by @rikiwilchins.bsky.social‬]

As part of the Trump administration’s push to expand U.S. energy production,
federal officials will review and consider redrawing the boundaries of national monuments
created under previous presidents to protect unique landscapes and cultural resources.

The review
— laid out in a Monday order from new Interior Secretary Doug Burgum
— is raising alarms among conservation groups concerned that Donald Trump will shrink
or eliminate monuments established by his predecessors,
including Democrat Joe Biden.

Burgum gave agency officials until Feb. 18 to submit plans on how to comply with his order.

Among the sites most at risk are
Bears Ears
and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments in Utah,
where state officials fought against their creation.

Grand Staircase-Escalante holds large coal reserves,
and the Bears Ears area has uranium.

Personally I have nothing against exploiting national parks if it's everyone's interests. But the truth is the world's power needs can be easily met through solar & wind & sea power. Trouble is that isn't going to buy oil executives a new yacht or boob job for their trophy wives.

Hello EU people:

There is an EU citizen petition to ban the use of "conversion therapy" on LGBTQ+ folks (i.e., trying to de-LGBTQ us— a process often described as "torture"). If you're interested, you can sign it here:

eci.ec.europa.eu/043/public/#/…

Please especially take note if you are a national of Spain, Slovenia, Belgium, or the Netherlands; the petition needs about 5x as many votes as it has now, but also needs to hit a threshold in four additional countries, and those are the four closest.

people underestimate how strong La France Insoumise, our radical left party, is. There was a massive communication to help with this initiative, and we delivered.

mcc reshared this.

I know it's late but that is great! I have a very long time friend who transitioned decades ago. I was thankful she's Dutch. I had no idea that Netherlands has changed (it sounds like it). So sad, the bigotry. I once asked her about it and she told me she had resisted until she was DESPERATE. Torturing is the right word yes.

Parts from Mouser have started to roll in. Got the LEDs, 165s, 595s, JST PH headers, the YC158 10K resistor networks, and some pre-made 7-pin JST PH cables because they're annoying. Even tracked down the tower of jumpers. #electronics

@woe2you I haven't made a project out of this yet in Mouser, but I'm pretty sure those emails just go into spam at this point.
