Stuff like this needs more attention, this is an important metric of how the economy is doing.

Gender Nazis in West Virginia passed a bill allowing child genital identification exams for the purpose of identifying their “biological sex” without without parent's (or child's) consent.

It also defines a person as male or female, depending on whether they "produce eggs or sperm," ignoring the fact that no one produces sperm until puberty. It also says that all intersex people are “either male or female” but does not give a basis for assigning a sex to them.

As I was saying in my 🧵yesterday (mstdn.social/@GottaLaff/114151…):

“Reports suggest that Senate Dems may not filibuster GOP CR. Instead, they may allow the resolution to make it to Senate floor in exchange for ability of Dems to offer an amendment to GOP CR. The Dem amend would fail. And bc Dems will have allowed GOP CR to make it to the Senate floor without a filibuster fight, the resolution could then pass on a simple majority vote—a threshold Republicans can easily exceed” roberthubbell.substack.com/p/t…

2/ Okay, this is worrisome. From one of my pals in the know:

"If they vote for cloture, GOP could ultimately turn down Dem proposals and pass the dirty CR with only 51 votes, thus surrendering the Dems' leverage here."

in reply to Laffy

All this is going to do is further erode faith in the Dems. A shutdown would suck, but it would be Trump’s shutdown. The GOP could point fingers all they want and it would fail to change the narrative among informed voters.

At what point does Schumer just get in front of the press and admit “I’m close to retiring. I need to protect my interests first even if that means screwing all of you.”

SunTrain wants to use the existing freight rail system to transport clean energy from wind farms and solar arrays to the grid.

NOT a Drag Queen..... once again!!!

in reply to OtownKim

Hypothetical situation like the bear in the woods.

You are stuck for a babysitter and have to leave your kids in the hands of either a Christian family man or a drag queen. Which would you pick?

My kids are safer in the hands of the drag queen. No question.

in reply to Glyn Moody

Yeah, I think most food in the US comes from factory farms run by giant conglomerates, too.

We're planting a veggie garden this year!

True but a system that is tightly links politics and money begs for corruption. When the people have no choice can they be held accountable. I pay taxes for clean water why can't I pay taxes for clean politics. All candidates should be funded by the government with no donations allowed. This would make it easier to track corruption.

As U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff enters talks with Russian officials in Moscow
on a Trump administration proposal Ukraine has already accepted for a 30-day ceasefire,
President Vladimir Putin's foreign policy adviser, Yuri Ushakov, rejected the idea.

Speaking on Russian state television, Ushakov dismissed a 30-day ceasefire as a mere "breather" for Ukrainian troops,
emphasizing Moscow's preference for substantive peace talks.
Ushakov reiterated Russia's demands:
Ukraine must recognize Russia's annexation of Crimea and four southeastern regions,
withdraw troops from lands claimed by Russia
and pledge never to join NATO.
He said he "hopes [the United States] knows our position and wants to believe that they will take it into account
as we work together going forward."

Putin isn’t going to agree to anything but complete surrender. He never was and never will.

Radboud University in the Netherlands recently hosted a highly controversial event featuring Rawan Osman, a self-identified Arab Zionist, in collaboration with StandWithUs, an Israeli advocacy organization.

The event, part of a broader tour at Dutch universities including Delft and Maastricht, sparked significant outrage as Osman used her platform to justify "Israel’s" occupation of Palestine while spewing openly racist rhetoric.
