Two twigs, one thicker than the other, cross an out of focus background, descending from right to left. On the upper twig is a deep pink larch flower which is the size of a large orange pip (or small pea) and the shape of a pineapple. The tips and edges of each pink piece making up this pine-cone shape, is bright green. To the right, and a couple of inches away, is a bundle of about twenty tiny blunt needles in bright green. They are tightly gathered together so they are not splaying apart at all, and only a few millimetres long.

Saw a billboard last week saying #TMobile is partnering with #Starlink, implying it's coming out of beta, and got a text today saying our phone bill will go up $5 a month. If I could trust another carrier not to do the same I'd be willing to pay even more than that to switch.

Maybe it's time to switch to Mint to avoid fascist #enshittification

The measles outbreak continues to spread in areas of west Texas and New Mexico
and has now reached several other states, including Pennsylvania, California and Oklahoma.

So far in 2025, more than 250 measles cases have been reported across multiple states,
resulting in two confirmed deaths, including that of an unvaccinated child
– the first death from measles in the US in a decade.

This comes as Robert F Kennedy Jr, the top US health official, continued to sow mistrust about vaccines this week,
claiming in an interview on Fox News that, among other things, the measles vaccine “causes all the illnesses that measles itself cause[s]”.
These comments arose despite research showing that the side-effects of the measles vaccine are far less serious than those associated with the virus itself.

If it behaved this way, the government, which in his time was usually seen as a negative force in society, could be a positive one. In 2025 the Republicans in charge of the United States of America are not the conservatives they call themselves; they are the dangerous ideological radicals Burke feared. They are abruptly dismantling a government that has kept the United States relatively prosperous, secure, and healthy for the past 80 years. In its place, they are trying to impose a government based in the idea that a few men should rule.
