the playdate isn’t my best music player, but it still beats my phone by virtue of having a headphone jack

@elsemusic yeahhh there are other things that make listening to music on my phone less than ideal, but this remains a non-starter

Trump reposted a story using a crossed out nazi symbol for LGBQT people put in concentration camps. This should be chilling for everyone. Once again, this is a campaign of eradication.

I'm pretty sure I've posted about this before, but I remain baffled.

In the ESA Euclid Early Release Observation image of the Perseus Cluster, there are two strange objects close to the big galaxy, NGC1275.

One appears to be a "double loop" galaxy, with large symmetric loops above & below the plane of an edge lenticular(?)

The other is a pair of reddened point sources wrapped in a loop of nebulosity, at the end of a filament coming out of NGC1275.

Any thoughts on either?

@spacegeck You have the best archives, Judy 🙂🤷‍♂️ I’ll post that Euclid thing to Phil – I mean, I’m sure it’s a galaxy too, but quite what dynamical process leads to something that smooth & symmetric, with a bright nucleus too, I dunno. I mean, it can’t be that close to NGC1275 along the line of sight, otherwise it’d be way more lopsided, you’d think.

I used to hunt for and specifically process the most "boring" lenticular galaxies because I'm absolutely fascinated by them. A lot of them have incredible symmetry. Here's one from the Zoo Gem project: flic.kr/p/2gCxqEB

Shitty Gear

Well it’s me playing various lower quality instruments in an effort to demonstrate that you can make okay music with inferior equipment. Don’t know if I demonstrated that successfully but there you go. Done for a Jamuary challenge a few years ago.

This is so beautiful :) It does indeed show how good battered old instruments can sound.

There's just nothing better than coming back from a trip to my room of #ShittyGear, listening to the brilliant makertube.net/w/k1CsnE3ABr3txv… by @bgm and scheming how to make best use of it.

Thanks for the inspiration!
