@mcc appending to files without rewriting the entire archive seems valuable

@whitequark @mcc maybe? I'd be concerned about atomicity, if that's the goal maybe something log-structured? FAT-style structures are not known for their transactionality or robustness.

Or Sqlite, as you said, which is basically that.

in reply to cliffle

@whitequark if i was concerned about atomicity i have doubts i would be working with the filesystem at all
in reply to mcc

sorry, I forgot to un-@. Good laugh, thanks! The joke didn't land boosted cause it doesn't boost the quoted part for probably good reasons, but quoting puts them together quicker, and notes-to-self uncommented etc :)

No, but you could cross post the video to this community. However, federation with PeerTube is currently broken.

The fix has been made, hopefully it'll make it through to the next release.

Selection bias (aka why most surveys are worthless).
in reply to Dare Obasanjo

I once did a phone survey which proved that people were scared to go out in the night time.

We collected the data by phoning people. At their homes. In the night time.

in reply to Dare Obasanjo

Hopefully you mean most surveys on Mastodon, or surveys automatically sent to people who bought some product or service, and not carefully designed and executed real opinion polls?
