1/... I used to produce a series I called BLUNT in which I invited my followers to submit short vids on a given topic, and I'd weave together w/ edits. I made this 13 years go.

4/ These vids were all done before everyone thought to use their phones to do it themselves

I found myself screaming at my TV night after night & thought, how can I get people to hear me? Or hear US?

Then it hit me: Edit rants together into vids, just be blunt in 2 mins or less & I'll add your voice to a BLUNT vid.

It caught on... until everyone else started making their own vids. So I stopped. PLUS, it was nearly impossible to get people to submit quickly to keep them topical/not dated

“It’s all TV to #Trump but it’s real to us” 🎯🎯🎯

I've been protesting, but I decided to do something different. I made an ad. I've given a lot of thought as to how to communicate without confrontation to Republican voters, non-voters, or Trumpers who are beginning to be concerned. I hope you'll watch - it's only 30 seconds.

😂 I watched a video this week on how early users of the printing press introduced more silent letters (ghost, dumb) for *aesthetic* reasons, for symmetry with words that authentically had those silent letters 🤦‍♀️

I guess tech geeks have always "known what people really need", huh? 😠

What a missed opportunity.

German had an orthography reform (Schreibreform) in 1996 that made the language pretty much phonetic - a huge relief for me, as a language learner.

True... and before the printing press in many languages that date way waaaaay back (and their descendents) they had 'scribes' both for nobility and because no on could read/write... and these people were paid by the word/by the letter or by the sentence... so you see where it all started....

The United States is set to co-host the FIFA World Cup in 2026 with Canada and Mexico. But given how the Trump administration has chosen to treat legal immigrants, permanent residents, its own citizens, and legal visitors, the safety of competing teams is a real concern.

In the same way that the U.S. led 65 other countries in boycotting the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow to protest the invasion of Afghanistan by the Soviet Union, our country could be on the receiving end of a similar boycott for the World Cup—and/or for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

"#China considering deploying a contingent to #Ukraine"

You can speculate all sorts of agendas here

But you'd be doing that from a traditional view of the world

Which is dead

There's only one signal for you to see here:

#Russia and #USA are untrustworthy, forgettable, and dying

China and #EU, #Europe, are the remaining world powers in the Northern Hemisphere

Deranged cesspits of incoherent zombies lie between them

(Not you #Canada, #SouthKorea, #Japan, you cool)

Dossier déposé il y a une semaine, mes confrères et consœurs de la commission de la carte de presse ont fait vite. Toujours un peu émouvant de recevoir cette fichue carte de presse tous les ans, même si ça fait presque 10 ans...

I am still fundraising btw!

my current laptop is, for lack of better terms, absolutely unusable to do any serious work on, and as such I'm looking to get a "new" one (well, a used one) that's a tad better to at least be able to do something
