WhatsApp is testing support for Android motion photos.
Thatβs according to WABetaInfo, which spotted that a recent beta of the Android app supports sharing motion photos, Androidβs GIF-like animations that accompany some photos, similar to the Live Photos feature found on iPhones (and which, the outlet notes, WhatsApp for iOS already supports).

The enterprise formerly known as Twitter is now understood by all to be in the service of right-wing authoritarianism in the United States and around the globe.
There is an uprising against Tesla, which is just a car company. Where is the uprising against X? How can any nonmalicious nonprofit or state or city organization continue to use it for its messaging? Or anyone else.

Mooi interview wel.
Duitser Sebastian Vettel was Formule 1-kampioen.

Zoth hacked for nearly $8.3 million, second theft in two weeks
RWA restaking platform Zoth suffered a $8.29 million hack after an attacker gained access to admin privileges that allowed them to modify the platform's smart contracts. The hacker "upgraded" the contract to a malicious version, then withdrew $8.Web3 is Going Just Great

For a given individual to protest against Tesla costs them nothing.
To protest against twitter means they have to do something inconvenient to them personally.
So they will do the former, and not the latter.

> Motivating people to dump big platform needs to be a separate initiative
This reminds me a lot of how net culture took on a cluster of highly concentrated and politically powerful broadcast media platforms in the 1990s. How powerful is TV now? At least among anyone under 50.
We didn't replace broadcast media by fighting them. We did it by building something better, and doing everything we could to make it comprehensible and accessible to more people.

I still remember the defensive MTV ads on bus stops in the late 1990s;
Joke's on them now, isn't it.
"As of November 2023, MTV is available to approximately 67,000,000 pay television households in the United States, down from its 2011 peak of 99,000,000 households."

Just like MTV in the 90s, it serves the DataFarmers to have us believe their power is growing and unassailable. But right now, they're circling the wagons, calling in political favours, and doing everything they can to exploit their oligopoly power while they have it.
Because their growth already peaked, and no concentration of power is unassailable. Certainly not in the face of a creative global community determined to leave the world - and the mediasphere - better than we inherited it.

The plutocratic pushback is heating up right now, all around the world, precisely because what we're doing with all these tech freedom movements is working. We just need to keep pushing, keep building community, and keep finding ways to make technology better at serving people's real needs.
We got this. Hold the line.

I was never on any social media before Mastodon. Iβm only here and engaging to try and support the fediverse model take hold.
