Good news for science-fiction fans (possibly the whole of the fediverse): Ryan Coogler, director of "Fruitvale Station," "Creed," the "Black Panther" movies and most recently, "Sinners," is working on an "X-Files" reboot. This was first reported a couple of years ago; Coogler says he's now spoken to Gillian Anderson. "We're going to try to make something really great, bro, and make something for the real 'X-Files' fans and maybe find some new ones," he told the team at Last Podcast on the Left. Here's more from @Variety. What do you think about the idea?

Finally have my Prosody server all compliant!
I had an epiphany last night about something in the nginx config and after sorting that, all the optional XEP listed also pass!
Now to convince wife and kids to use it for our group chat... they really don't want to install any more apps, because I'm "being difficult" because they already use whatsapp 😑
The main reason I'm impressed with it over matrix, is reliable notifications. It just works. So far, anyway.
Thank you to the people that replied to my post last week suggesting I try xmpp after the matrix server we used shut down. I had written it off as an old platform for nerds, but it's... actually really good ❤️

in reply to 🏴 hamid the villain [he/him] 🏴 • • •It's so fucking ridiculous!
In the past 30 years Dems were in power 2/3 of the time, so they very obviously did contribute to the state of affairs that led to Trump being elected twice!
Or if the country moved rightward regardless of what team the President represents, then it means voting in this system is only ceremonial and completely useless activity.
Either Dems are enablers of Fascists or voting is useless, there's no third option.

in reply to BrainInABox • • •Cause people keep hating on dems instead of seeing dems for what they are. Opportunists Lesser evils than also need to be removed. But GOP is worst they need to go first. We need Truce with dems until gop is gone. then let's go tear them apart. But people keep getting angry and shocked at dems bs and then refuse to vote and let gop win. Which is arguably worst outcome.
At least vote third party people!

If 2 products have the same calories then you check the next line. Like sugar to see which is better. Its the same with the gop and dnc. Both sides are the same there so have to look at other topics. Don't tell me its cold as f$#! I know that. Which is why I want dems to get theirs but we need gop out first to stop the major pushes right.

in reply to Spacehooks • • •GOP are better on Ukraine than the Democrats are, at least admitting the reality of the situation - that it was a proxy war they lost and they now need to extract themselves from it. Democrats are still in kookoo land on this subject.
So if we're calling both American ruling parties support for a genocidal ethnostate a wash, since they both do it equally, and arbitrarily picking other topics instead why don't we use this criteria to argue the GOP are the "harm reduction" candidates since they won't zealously lead us into WW3 and nuclear war?
(I am not advocating voting for the GOP, just using an example to show you the flaw in your logic here)
Spacehooks
in reply to Z_Poster365 [none/use name] • • •Z_Poster365 [none/use name]
in reply to Spacehooks • • •If you support Ukraine you should support their immediate surrender because they have lost and you dragging this out is just killing thousands of them for no reason and making their situation worse by the day.
Your entire logic is "lesser of 2 evils" right?
The two choices with Ukraine is to keep pushing military support until their country collapses and hundreds of thousands more soldiers die, or surrender and take a deal where they disarm and stay neutral.
Guess which one is the "lesser evil"?

FDR did what he did to save capitalism from the threat of socialist revolution, and politicians have spent the last three generations clawing back the concessions he had made to socialist & labor agitators. They also purged socialists from labor unions, and they purged and even assassinated communists, to avoid any such thing happening again.
