Google's "Results about you" (which you should use: myactivity.google.com/results-…) alerted me that my name and address were listed on kompass.com. I looked, and I'm listed as a "Principal" of a former employer where I never was, with my home address falsely listed as the company's. It lists the wrong business category and website for the company. The company went out of business years ago, years after I left. This illustrates how accurate B2B lead generation data brokers are. #Kompass #dataPrivacy
My guess is that at some point while I worked for the company I registered a domain without enabling whois privacy, so I showed up in the whois record, and my home address was visible in the whois record, thus linking me, my home address, and the company's domain together, and that's the data that got scraped. But honestly I have no idea how they managed to end up with the entirely wrong business type and website.
@DieWespe I could not find any procedure on the web site for asking them to remove or delete inaccurate data. The best I could find was the instructions in their privacy policy to email dpo@kompass.com to "exercise one's personal data privacy rights," so I sent email to that address enumerating all the errors on the page and asking them at least to remove my name and mailing address or better yet to remove the page entirely since all the data on it is wrong. I doubt they'll do it, but we'll see.
