@alwirtes yeah that area sure is pretty. I am hoping to go back and spend some more time when the weather is better. Although it was at least pretty if not warm that day.

Amber Heard now lives in Spain under different name after starting new life following Johnny Depp trial – Celebrity byteseu.com/?p=943863 #AmberHeard #CelebrityNews #JohnnyDepp #Spain

The SF Standard names Curtis Yarvin as one of the top 100 most influential people in San Francisco: "If democracy has felt precarious lately that's by ... Yarvin's design." Hmm. Why hasn't the Standard written about this before? A cutesy item in a glib listicle hardly seems the proper format.
in reply to Gil Durán

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to see people tuning in. But his inclusion in this list, and the explosive description of his role, suggests the SF Standard (and others) have failed to tell a pretty important story.

If your main concern is *jobs*, import restrictions on solar panels are crazy. Even if you create a few manufacturing jobs, you lose way more installation jobs, which are far more numerous. @hannahritchie.bsky.social runs the numbers.

Do imports of cheap solar pane...

*blinks* Data got that sculpture from Lt. jg Jenna D'Sora in TNG 4x25. Data originally put it in _that_ corner for aesthetic reasons (the lighting contrast), but she suggested that it belonged in a more central place, so he moved it to a tabletop. Data's line here is in TNG 7x06, "Phantasms." We see that Data respects his friend (and ex-girlfriend) by retaining her gift, but he no longer feels it necessarily to please people by going against his nature.

Han Junjia's 26-year rail career is the ultimate time-lapse of China's rise. In 1992, he shoveled coal into roaring steam engines. Today, he pilots the 350km/h 'Fuxing' bullet train, watching the countryside blur past in climate-controlled silence.

While the West debated high-speed rail, China built it, compressing a century of transport evolution into one working life. Real progress isn't about gadgets, but about lifting generations into the future.

Please, don't confuse "The US" and "The West." Most of the West has been using high speed trains for a while.
in reply to David

@David Europe has some, but they're not terribly high speed compared to China being roughly 100km/h slower

So I got really bored (and lonely) at home and my fiancée was going to be off in a few hours so I walked to their work.

2 hours and 4 miles later I made it. even a year ago I don't think I would've made it out of the door. I have a bad knee and a lot of health problems that all interact with each other. I use a cane and a rollator (walker with wheels) some days.

I also got to flip off a Cybertruck! Pictured is not the shitty truck but the waterfowl at my local pond.

But anyway. Other than a blister on each foot I'm really happy and feeling alright. I did amazing!!! I just hope my body doesn't fight me tomorrow lol
