in reply to Robert Reich • • •We need Universal Basic Income. With a minimum wage, employers feel forced to pay more than they would have to in a "free" market. But in such a market, there will always be someone so desperate that they will take less than the person the employer is paying now, even if "less" means "not nearly enough." If everyone had a living UBI, we wouldn't need a minimum wage: workers would be able to hold out for decent pay.
With the tax breaks the rich get, UBI just levels the field.

in reply to Robert Reich • • •Every economy expert will tell you that if the people have a good income it's good for domestic economy which is good for tax income of the states which is good for everyone. Despite knowing that, everyone is keen on keeping the wages low, destroying unions and unionization. That hurts everyone, people and the economy.
In the past 1 income was enough to support a family. Nowadays 2 incomes aren't enough for many families.
Over the decades wages were not even keeping up with inflation.
