Have I gone too far?
I edited this image last night. Today I thought, maybe I should try to reveal a few more details in the shadows - it looks a bit odd down there. I couldn’t quite manage it, so I looked at the original again - or at least what the RAW editor spits out by default, not the actual bitstream. 😉
I was surprised! I barely recognized the image: the mood, the crop, everything had changed. It’s wild how deep you can get into editing, to the point where the original (whatever that even means) completely fades from view.
But I followed my vision, the way a potter sees the vessel already within the clay. In that sense - no, I haven’t gone too far.

Il tutto all'insaputa

Finally have some free time to start moving away from a Gmail email address. Can anybody recommend a fully hosted email service provider?
I can pay.
Something like Fastmail, with the ability for aliases, and a clean, HTML, designed interface that isn't trying to be an app in a browser? But the ability to view messages as plain text.
Proton Mail is a no go because their LLMs poke all through your messages. I want something without AI bullshit.
I'd use Fastmail but they don't work with my VOIP mobile numbers and constantly engage in union busting so want something else.
The image shows a person sitting at a wooden table in a café, with a blue cup of latte art on a matching saucer. The latte features a heart-shaped design on the foam. To the left, a white helmet rests on a black cushioned chair. The person's hand, wearing a blue and black sleeve, is visible, making a peace sign. The table is positioned near a window with a green wrought iron railing, through which a stroller and a person can be seen outside. The floor is wooden, and a pink object is partially visible beneath the table.

But I can tell you this: I had those mountains in mind, their misty clouds swirling around them, the delicate play of light and shadow drifting across the ridges.
Of course, none of that was quite so vivid in the RAW file. And after three years, even my memory has softened at the edges. But the feeling remained - and that’s what I tried to carve out of the pixels.
