in reply to Tim Bray • • •I'm not really surprised Claude is better at x86 assembly than at Tailwind 4.
the type of "reasoning" these LLMs do relies on having conversations in their training data. some person posts, "this doesn't work", and someone replies, "try this". there are lots of these discussions on x86. it's been around for a long time, and it's probably been an assignment many times.
Tailwind 4 is too recent to have that type of corpus.
LLMs are ok at "this has been homework before LLMs".
