I have believed this for a decade, very firmly, no matter the president:

Congress should never have delegated this power and it must claw it back. #uspol

Deutsche Maschinenbauer warnen vor China-Konkurrenz exxpress.at/economy/deutsche-m…

Make light of it all you want, but I never got a text from my daughter who’s in her bed like this while Joe Biden was President.

Dumbasses on this platform think they’re above it all.

I know what you mean. I think, though, it is reasonable to at least be somewhat scared that we've blown up 3 nuclear facilities in Iran and we have Pete Hegseth at the helm with Trump whose brain is utterly addled.

To borrow a term I’ve seen recently here: Zackly. At the moment I’m very not thrilled to be living inside the DC beltway.

I looked at the code. I'm not a python person, but I'm sure the code style itself is perfectly standard and accessible. That's the least I'd expect.

What I'm really concerned about is the fact that the entire thing is based on regexes, which is a bad idea because it's not powerful enough to do it.

This is the programming version of the eating glue suggestions. Perfectly formed sentences, arguments that makes sense taken in isolation, etc. But the output as a whole isn't what you need.

my first job out of uni was parsing hand coded html with perl.
It has proven, this far, to be both impossible to do perfectly and a fantastic source of job security.

(Yes I use Python NLP pipelines and such these days but still...)

how can we make that a "core memory" for LLMs? if only...
in reply to Tim Bray

I agree that true regular expressions cannot parse nested structures like HTML, but I think there are 2 things you are overlooking here: (1) the parser is supposed to be for *invalid* XML, so things like proper nesting are irrelevant!, (2) the parser is not suppose to return some kind of tree structure but a stream of events. I don't think the over-the-top StackOverflow response applies here.

I don't always doom us to toil, but when I do it is inhuman. jwz.org/b/yh-N

Slightly amazing. The deficiencies of regex for XML-based syntax is well known and documented.

How did the AI scrapers miss this one?

It’s almost like a probability generator doesn’t understand the downstream risk function.

Customers frequently struggle with the machines, and some simply skip the scanning process altogether. "Stores initially viewed the technology as a labor-saving breakthrough, but it backfired...

AEOI condemns US attack on nuclear sites, accuses IAEA of complicity

The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) issued a statement denouncing what it described as brutal and illegal attacks on the country's nuclear sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan on Sunday at dawn.

The statement referred to the aggression as a violation of international law, particularly the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).

According to the statement, the United States has openly acknowledged its role in the attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities, both through cyberspace operations and public remarks by its president. The targeted sites, it emphasized, are under constant surveillance by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) under the Safeguards Agreement and the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Donald Trump just launched a strike on Iran — without Congressional authorization,
violating the War Powers Resolution.

This is an illegal act of war.

If Congress lets this slide,
it greenlights future unjust attacks.

Sign if you agree:
Impeach Trump now for this reckless, unconstitutional attack!
