I got my first follower from Threads. The Fediverse integration is moving forward, but it feels like they've given up on Europe since the feature still isn't working here. Honestly, I’m not holding out much hope anymore.

I think making a song and dance about supporting federation with other services was mainly openwashing. A way of bootstrapping their new service, by trading off the media moment Mastodon was having. Lots of people who joined probably have no idea they're not actually in the fediverse.

The engineers working on Threats are probably genuine in their enthusiasm for ActivityPub, but they are constrained by their pathological bosses.
