I’m starting to see parallels between Mau’s Cultural Revolution and Trump’s MAGA America. The attack on intellectuals, officially sanctioned ICE thugs imposing cultural norms, the impending collapse of agriculture leading to widespread starvation (or maybe it will be pandemic diseases this time).
Maybe we should take heart from that. Mau’s damaging regime collapsed fairly quickly and China has eventually recovered. There will be lots of unnecessary pain on that journey, though
