There are two ways to refresh a webpage in Firefox.

The first method uses Ctrl+R or F5 to reload the current page in Firefox using the browser's cache.

The other method uses Ctrl+Shift+R to force a hard refresh. It bypasses the cache and ensures that you get the latest version of the page from the server. Holding the Shift key while clicking the Reload button is another way to force a hard refresh, equivalent to Ctrl+Shift+R.

The economic consequences of Trump’s war taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2025/0… Trump has tipped the world into a war situation, and the economic consequences could be very severe indeed. Expect inflation, recession and a stock market crash.

@bsots was thinking maybe you (and others) could use this thread to drop #netlabelweek2025 #machinelearning questions...alternatively, we could collect them on an Etherpad or something.

If a lot of the questions are legal, then I will probably need to make sure it is at a time Jessica can make it.

For anyone wondering about the backstory, there is dalek.zone/w/tDiWUZLigo8xdDZxB… and dalek.zone/w/5Fg48pH3ta4mJhp55…

As always, boosts very welcome!

Jibber Jabber Jambalaya - Study Abroad in Mathland with Evan Whitfield and Friends of CC Music

Evan and I talk about AI, Machine Learning, and our upcoming Statistics for Musicians course, which I decided at the end of the show will be called "Study Abroad in Mathland"...at least until someone comes up with something better

btw, I wonder if just watching youtu.be/m8M_BjRErmM would fill in all the gaps. I would quibble with some of what is said about safety and fine-tuning, but I don't know how much we need to get into application building

I'm splitting this video into two halves because that's the only way I'll actually get through it. First 30 mins were a bit of a struggle for me, but it's breakdown of the overall concept into laypeople terms could serve as a good resource. Hearing someone that's super amped about all of this but still able to explain things in such a way that it's tangible to the uninitiated is an impressive skill.

speaking of AI, there was an interesting announcement today and I'm wondering how much attention needs to be paid to the discussion that will build around this in the oncoming weeks and months....

looks like we have a new #netlabelweek event:

Tuesday, July 15
6–7 PM UTC
Register here.

Tuesday, July 29
1–2 PM UTC
Register here.

Friday, Aug 15
3–4 PM UTC
Register here.

in reply to Doug Whitfield [Minneapolis]

the first one on 7/15 is during my in-office work day, but I ought to register anyway in case there's a replay. besides, there may be some indie artists who are far more clued in that show up and interact. if that happens, then that's something else to learn from.
in reply to Doug Whitfield [Minneapolis]

I figured it out. Put simply, I should never attempt to watch an AI breakdown video during the work week. My brain post-work day wants nothing to do with anything that I don't have immediate interest in. Watched the second half of the video a few hours ago and got so much more out of it.

I just downloaded the Practical AI episode, which I will likely pay more attention to from the start because of my audio bias.

Stop this madness now by Dale Vince

« After BBC’s Panorama investigation into the company’s destruction of primary forests, #Drax asked auditor KPMG to investigate, hoping for a clean bill of health.

However, the evidence was so damning that the reports are being hidden from the public. »
