Don’t throw away your old notes: writingslowly.com/2025/06/23/d…

Don’t throw out your old notes, even if you feel overwhelmed by them. Here are some helpful ideas on what to do instead.

in reply to Writing Slowly

I wonder how many times Jules Verne wrote maybe the same kind of note about the same idea ...

About the #archive tag, is that just a tag you add on old notes or do you move them also to a specific folder?

Invasion of the survey bots

The internet and social media are increasingly dominated by bots and AI slop, and researchers relying on online surveys – already a dubious source of useful information – are seeing their results poisoned by automated nonsense. #AI

Heading into trouble

The findings of a world-first experiment add to evidence suggesting heading a ball in the world’s most played sport can impact the brain, even when concussion doesn’t occur. #Health

Will AI solve Australia’s productivity problem?

If AI is going to be an effective treatment for Australia’s productivity challenge, then workers must be an essential part of the recovery team, rather than cast aside to slash costs for companies and organisations. #AI

Tonight for my birthday, the Family Movie Night film was Alien: Romulus (2024) -- birthday boy's pick.

Everyone was entertained. There were yelps, groans and screams throughout the movie. My kids both liked it more than Alien (1979). My daughter thought the horror and gore was fantastic and really thought the "baby" alien was cool.

The cryogenic room sequence got everyone to the edge of their seats.

Fantastic Birthday Movie!

@_L1vY_ That was good! I loved all the little nods to the original two - the scraping sound of the metal iris opening and closing, the careful climb into the environmental suit! My favorite scene though? That’s a tough one. Ash/Rook creeped me out!

Yes! I loved all the little things they put into the movie that referenced previous movies and also the game Alien: Isolation. I loved the softball easter egg of the Drinking Bird toy 😀

I liked when they were in the lab and they played the Prometheus theme when they mentioned of the word "Prometheus".

Ash/Rook was definitely creepy!

The image displays a mobile application interface titled "Typhoon Info." The background features a grayscale map, likely depicting the typhoon's path. At the top, the title "Typhoon Info" is prominently displayed. Below, the location is indicated as "300km SE of Chichijima," with details on movement (20 km/h), peak gust (25 m/s), and heading (NNW). The interface includes a prompt for writing about the benefits of learning English in Japan, with instructions to use idioms for a natural sound. The text is dated "2025/06/23 11:52" and mentions that the following text has been machine-translated with AI assistance, noting that accuracy cannot be guaranteed. The lower section of the image provides information about Typhoon No. 2, including its expected approach to the Ogasawara Islands and warnings about landslides and rough seas.

Robots with brains – what could possibly go wrong?

QUT robotics researchers have developed a new robot navigation system that mimics neural processes of the human brain and uses less than 10 per cent of the energy required by traditional systems. #Robots

Congratulations, Benjamin Netanyahu, after two decades you finally found a sucker to commit America to an unprovoked war with Iran.

Only Trump was sucker enough to take the bait.
