My wife and I went to Auschwitz during our first visit to Poland. We've seen the horrors the SS, Gestapo, and the Nazis did to Jews, Poles, and other "undesirables" - including the infirm, mentally disabled, and of course political prisoners.
To think that we're even 10% close to that reality in the United States of America is enough to make us wretch.
So we fight. We sabotage. We slow-walk stuff. We call them out to their faces.
@jimthewhyguy A visit to Auschwitz is a life changing experience. It was twenty five years ago and still remember it like yesterday. The quiet and the sensation of actually being in the physical spaces where such things were done. That it actually could happen, did happen and could happen again. That humans did this to other humans right there, and not that long ago.
@mastodonmigration So in like 15 years, we'll be having mandatory tours of extermination camps for the people living in nearby towns who claimed they never saw or heard anything going on there a few miles away?
