It’s like this Tesla driver is using talismans to protect themself….

(Obfuscated on the right: a private school that might otherwise ID them.)

the hilarious thing for me is seeing the "bought it before Elon went crazy" stickers on them, then seeing the license plate is a 9M and knowing they bought it in the last 12 months.

The tragic death of 32 people in flash floods in Texas was due to rainfall probably magnified by the effects of the climate crisis.
The disaster was made all the more likely by the gutting of weather service and other government agencies built up over decades to keep the population safe.

Nothing like reading how the current nazi regime tries to blame someone else, when the fault falls directly on the current administration and all of its cuts to NOAA and the weather service!

I'm not communicating enough about the artfeed.org project, and as a result there aren't many registrations. So I've done away with the invitation system and opened up the site to everyone.

Artfeed is a simple way to follow the work of photographers and artists via their #rss feeds, with an interface dedicated to images.

You can also add your own #feed to the site and create your profile, like mine here: artfeed.org/@atlza
A great way to share your images and likes!

It is strange to review a music video, but Buzzy Lee's masterpiece Strange Town deserves some praise. I think Buzzy Lee, who co-directed the music video with Jeff Leeds Cohn knew that they didn't know what they were doing. So the whole thing, spoiler alert, is poking fun at their own directing.

I can hear fireworks shows, so here's the current air quality for Los Angeles from purple air's 2.5 pm sensors
in reply to Diane

Looks like we're almost back to our regular Los Angeles bad air.

Here's a plot from my home assistant instance that's reading my closest airnow.gov/ AQI indicator.

Air now's measurements differ from purple air in they're more accurate where the sensor is, and includes ozone in the air quality measurement, but there's far fewer sensors than with purple air.

Also the purple air sensors measure particulate pollution which is a big chunk of what fireworks and fires produce. Ozone is more a product of combustion or volatile organic compounds.

And funny thing about those volatile organic compounds (VOCs) apparently we've gotten enough emission controls onto our cars that now heat stressed trees are turning into the largest source of ozone precursor molecules

"Combining results with temperature patterns down to a resolution of 4 kilometers squared (about 2.5 miles squared), the team determined that botanical sources of VOCs, which include compounds like isoprene, monoterpenes, and sesquiterpenes, contributed to around 60 percent of the potential formation of secondary organic aerosols at the start of the LA summer."
