the last were support-ticket systems.
Many completely butcher interleaved style answers to the point where only blank space arrives, confusing the person trying to help you.
In university we still learned good interleaved e-mail practices.
But most everybody either insists on doing it wrong or follows bad examples

e-mail?: Some were desperate to push html advertisement capabilities into it.
Social media/connecting friends?: was great until it monetized human connections and then control em for power.
markdown/etc: quick easy solution wanted but too lazy to iron out contradictions.(?)
Windows: abuse of marketpower so it ships preinstalled

in reply to Karl Voit • • •I think it would be worthwhile, because to my knowledge, nobody is teaching the ways in which different forces constantly act upon technologies to re-shape them to their benefit.
This is always something we rant about in elite groups, but nobody t.m.k. is teaching students just how political technologies are or drawing lessons from it that maybe should be taught.
Just look at how google/m$ abused the fight against spam to break the whole idea of E-Mail and cement a monopoly

I loved it, but none of us considered it a "serious" tech-lecture at the time.
But when you design technically, you don't just to design the system people have to abide by, you also get to shape the initial culture around that tech.
That gives you the power to design, ahead of time, against the ways it could be abused or for the ways it can be repurposed later.
The Netiquette was a great example of that.
