"A questi numeri si somma un altro dato strutturale: i salari reali in #Italia sono tra i più stagnanti d’Europa.

È un circolo vizioso che sta spingendo sempre più famiglie verso l’indebitamento e la #povertà."

Have you ever visited the Valley of Fire State Park? Been there a few times. Smallish-sized park, easy to get around and great scenery. Even if you cannot walk much or hike. Enjoy.

Rope Bridge to Carrick-a-Rede Island by Debra Martz
Carrick-a-Rede Island in #CountyAntrim, #NorthernIreland, is accessible from the mainland via a rope bridge.
The first bridge was erected by salmon fishermen in 1755 to reduce reliance on a boat to reach the island. Today, it is mainly a tourist attraction where you can sway in the wind while seeing beautiful views

Kyiv Subway Entrance

in reply to Karl Voit

I think it would be worthwhile, because to my knowledge, nobody is teaching the ways in which different forces constantly act upon technologies to re-shape them to their benefit.

This is always something we rant about in elite groups, but nobody t.m.k. is teaching students just how political technologies are or drawing lessons from it that maybe should be taught.

Just look at how google/m$ abused the fight against spam to break the whole idea of E-Mail and cement a monopoly

I may need to make some notes for this 😅

But I think you would be in a much better position to reach people who are not the choir

in reply to xro

@xro OK, then collect some ideas and then let's meet for a brainstorming on that.

At University we had a mandatory lecture "Technology and Society"

I loved it, but none of us considered it a "serious" tech-lecture at the time.

But when you design technically, you don't just to design the system people have to abide by, you also get to shape the initial culture around that tech.

That gives you the power to design, ahead of time, against the ways it could be abused or for the ways it can be repurposed later.

The Netiquette was a great example of that.

in reply to xro

And I think students could learn a lot from the ways in which the Netiquette thrived (because everybody you interacted with, sooner or later pointed you to it) and then failed (when commercial services thrived on getting as many ppl as possible onto the internet and left the education of the masses to a sudden minority)
in reply to xro

In short, I think it would be great, if we could teach students the means and tools of how to keep more control over how their brainchilds develop or at least a perspective on which forces they can expect to act on it and what money is to be made at what cost to society.
