7/2/25 poetry roundup

I know pride month is over, but EVERY month is pride month, and every day is an awesome day to take pride in our personhood and our right to BE.

A bit of backstory, I took inspiration from sibling (what I’m starting to call my supporters) Andy from Ohio, who once wrote to me about flies in a vent, making music and ramming bodies, and I thought it was poetic as fuck. The poems below borrow his words.

“In the meantime, we get to make music and ram our bodies together to harmonize with the rain”

“Where are we going?” I ask as my lover leads me by the hand.

“To the club, to dance,” he says.

“No, I mean humanity!” I shout over the pounding bass

as sweat drips down my face to his

chest to chest we dance and sing

“Seriously, though, how’d we get here, man?” I query as he grinds

against me in the sweltering heat

“We drove,” he speaks.

“I don’t understand!”

I shout he turns to kiss me on the mouth;

it’s warm, “the right temperature”

like Sean Paul was singing,

my lover successfully turned me on.

We took a stop at the bar

“I just… don’t know who we are…”

I say as he orders my favorite drink, tips his glass,

and with a clink, says, “I’m Devin, nice to meet you.”

He winks, it’s hot but

“I’m serious,” I demand.

“OH hi serious, any relation to the blocks of the wizarding world?” he chortles

and I spit my drink —

“I’m sorr — “

With a kiss he silences me, I remember the sweet.

The sprinkles turn on just then,

smoke,

a fire coulda been

but —

“The roof!

The roof! The roof is on fire!

We don’t need no water

let the mothafucka burn!”

my lover shouts

pulling me into the crowd of jambing bodies

moving to our own song

in the icy cold sprinkling water.

At that moment, I saw,

I know who we are,

I remembered how we got here,

I know where we’re going too.

I don’t know what the purpose

of all this is but fuck the test,

I can ace the quiz

my lover’s kiss, my hand in his, this club, these moments

we more than exist, we live, that’s what queerness is

In spite of the pain, the emotional drain

Fear and foreboding

We can dance in the rain

Cheeks stained purple and blue

We have our lover’s arms to fall into

The hate and abuse

We drown that out with music too

The struggle for liberation

Our right to “BE”

A happy ending we may not see

In the meantime we can “BE”

happy; make music and dance

hold our lover’s hand; and hold our lovers hand

You said:

You said you don’t believe in god

You believe in me

You don’t care too much for fate

Prefer to create the choices you make

So you choose me

You don’t know how the world was made

How it’ll change or the way things will go

But you KNOW what you want

Freedom and liberation for Palestine and all the oppressed

people of the world; And me… and me

Queer Love

Being Queer

being HERE

on this earth

cursed

with love

here to stay set up for

an unknown fate

as our governments eviscerate; rights

it’s not exactly clear, like

a foggy morning with dew

staining our face as tears; there’s

beauty here

in the lavender haze

it’s calm here; fun too

in the end we all haven’t a clue

what there was or is or will be; yet

in the meantime

we get to make music

and ram our little bodies

together

to harmonize with the rain

we get to create and love

in spite of

cuz

no matter what

it’s all love

it’s all us

all of us is love

The slack door

The first one of these disastrous monstrosities [ICE’s new “detention centers”] is FCI Dublin. FCI Dublin is a notorious women’s federal prison recently shut down (last year) after an FBI raid. In which many staff were arrested for raping and abusing the female inmates. This raid came after 60+ lawsuits pending against the FBOP on behalf of tortured and abused women, over years. NOW the Feds are REOPENING it as an “ICE detention center”… it’s a prison. A PRIVATE federal sponsored/requested prison. Presumably to house co-ed soon-to-be deportees. This NEEDS to be condemned, and we need spotlights on this soon-to-be disaster.

The second disaster I’m not as well versed on, but it is an old military installation prison. Recently shut down (housed men) due to staff abuse and deteriorating facilities in disrepair. Now being rebuilt to house soon-to-be deportees. If you already thought ICE and their detention centers were bad, if you thought it couldn’t get worse than Guantanamo, it’s getting worse. And prisoners need support, more than marches. I love to hear that folks are ACTUALLY interfereing in these arrests, good, don’t give the pigs an easy meal FUCK 12 pinche la migra putas FUCK 12!

But seriously, what you can do doesn’t stop when they are behind walls. And make no mistake, they’re prisons. So not just us, but we need to get normie folks familiar with using comms or donating to orgs that’ll apply money to our hostage’s commissary for lawyers, family contact, food, etc. These folks are political prisoners (as ALL prisoners are), support your local and national hostages, for their liberation. And don’t actually “fuck” 12, but FUCK 12!

IMU just another side of the SHU as far as the dark side of the moon

silent too

mental degradation

hatred infused

it’s what they do resistance seems moot

it’s ESSENCE

it’s core to our belief in the struggle to be free

no matter what you see cages gates indiscriminate bombing

RESISTANCE is key fundamental to me

what I see brings me grief

what I hear brings me tears

what I speak is truth

ALL I fear is NOT fighting

most sights are so bleak

screams

silence

both deafening

carceral state has captured me

but it’s beautiful too

Kites in Gaza’s Skies

High time for kite flyin’

hypersonic missiles streak the sky

above

kites fly high

life; finds a way

defies

your very aim

resilient aren’t they?

Shopping bags and tattered rags

hoisted high

not in surrender

to let you know

Gazans still stand

Hypersonic missiles streak the sky

tears stain a Gazan’s face

rubble tattered land

as children’s kites glide

One day

I will streak the sky with kites up high

one for all who died

all who gave their lives

robbed, taken by their fascist regime

I Hate It Here

Where do we go? Shall we just dedicate another memorial? More bulletins and t-shirts printed while bullets rip through t-shirts and hoodies pointed blood red — aloud the names — it’s still the same. How many since that day? How many still got away? How many locked away? Buried alive in a concrete grave. How many more names?
