Thing is, choosing a server is kind of a necessary part of actually being decentralized.
Get that it is a psychological hurdle, but it turns out to be a necessary one if you want to be part of a distributed network.
That said, if people want a good safe recommendation that is not the main mastodon.social instance (which is also fine BTW) just pick @stux mstdn.social. You can't go wrong this well run EU based instance.

in reply to Mastodon Migration • • •We are not denying that, agreed choosing a server needs to be done, I just think people would understand better if they were choosing a community. Yes choosing a community would actually be choosing a server but people much prefer joining communities than servers, they understand what those are, no one would have to give long explanations about what they are.
