Just found a dying chicken hen in the yard, still warm, blood pouring out of her back. Her ribs are crushed and she has pretty clear talon wounds from an owl on either side of her spine, plus one on her abdomen, which reads me to believe that the owl grabbed her, she fought back, then the owl had to re-grip, so it tossed her, missed with one leg, and then she reached up and pecked out one if its eyes.
I found what looks a lot like an avian eyelid and some aqueous goo in her beak.
She was dying hard, so I assisted her. Rest easy, little warrior.
