Well I renewed our MO Botanical Garden membership, scheduled Pixie's vet appointment for a 3-yr rabies shot and update my credit card info on a few auto paid bills. After working 9 hours. Is that enough adulting for one day? Eh probably not, I've got to pick up our kid in a few.

Enjoy your evening and try to relax! Then describe to me what that is. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ

I dunno, I spent 30 seconds on that NY Slimes panic-piece "What if antidepressants make your kid asexual?" and shrugged as someone who is asexual.

"What if soymilk and plastic food containers turn your sons into gay femboys?" is another panic-piece that I could imagine too.

Sounds like a cool kid to me. I'm not really concerned.

"What if toxic masculinity and patriarchy turn your teens into rapists and sexual assault victims?"

THAT is something to be concerned about. Where is THAT article?

Bagpipers play tribute to AC/DC in world record attempt in Melbourne

"The world record for biggest bagpipe ensemble was broken in Melbourne on Wednesday, with 374 pipers playing in unison. The ensemble played AC/DC's It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock β€˜n’ Roll) to a crowd of thousands. It broke the previous record, set in Bulgaria in 2012, by 41."

What an Australian thing to do!

No Turkish bagpipes? (I knew someone who made Turkish bag pipes - he had a standing offer to anyone who had a goat they no longer wanted: He needed goat skins that were cut a certain, particular way.)

The big boy book of There Is No Antimemetics Division is available now.

It's extremely good, because the original work is extremely good. I was hoping rewrites and the professional editing process would improve it significantly, but the changes are mostly neutral. There's an audiobook, which is nice.

The work, in any of its available forms, comes with my highest recommendation. One of my favorite works of fiction of the past 10 years.

I've just finished reading They Called Us Enemy by George Takei. I've had that book on my to be read shelf for some time, waiting for the moment when I felt up to the emotional impact. What an insightful work! WOW!

It's about how the US government rounded up US citizens of Asian descent (including Takei's family) and incarcerated them in order to "protect" the US during WW2. Of course it left me angry with the US government, but in that it's timely. The current administration is already recreating internment camps.

I can't recommend it highly enough.

Gays are also considered the enemy by many people. Old people (Takei and I are about the same age) are also often mistreated.

So Takei is part of more than one disfavored group.
