@pawpower I got something I don't recognize. I think it's like a root item. It reminds me of antlers the way it branches. I know both ginger and turmeric grow funny but I'm at a loss.

You should take a pic and post it here, a lot of people are really helpful.

#ElonMusk voice: introducing AirX, the #AI to replace air traffic controllers. Best part is that it won’t need trauma leave when it kills #people!

#Gaslighting creates unnecessary additional #traumas. It is #abusive & #manipulative.
I have always struggled with forgiveness towards gaslighters. It's literally #crazymaking & it's harmful to our souls. It makes you question yourself, your realities & it dissolves trust.

Two years of genocide have exposed a global web of complicity. The US & Germany supply 90% of Israel's weapons, while the EU & Arab states maintain lucrative trade, fueling a war machine tested on Palestinians. UN expert Francesca Albanese warns that Palestine is a blueprint for global suppression. The same surveillance tech and brutal tactics used in Gaza are already deployed on borders and against protesters worldwide.

Catholic Bishops Rebuke Trump’s Immigration Tactics in Rare Statement - The New York Times archive.ph/543Tp

What is this and how do we get rid of it? allforgardening.com/1507742/wh… #FatPlants #SucculentPlants #succulents

America's Roman Catholtic Bishops:

"“We pray for an end to dehumanizing rhetoric and violence, whether directed at immigrants or at law enforcement."

No Gods, no masters, ACAB, and we don't need so-called religious leaders to know that violence directed at immigrants (the only kind of violence that is increasing) is wrong. To the dustbin of history with all of you.

This piece by ProPublica, about the consistent deceit emanating from the Murdoch family's primary U.S. media outlet, is chapter and verse why that propaganda outlet should ALWAYS be referred to as Fox "News" --

Our prisons aren't large enough to house the legion of people complicit in events this year, nor should we have to keep paying year after year, for decades, for their incarceration while they laugh amongst themselves and swap stories how they succeeded for as long as they did.

and God said “you may eat freely of any tree in the garden, except for the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, this one requires Eden Prime, you can subscribe now for just $2 for your first month”

So I used to play Runescape. My friends from that era are all buzzing about how RS3 just killed off their gacha microtransactions garbage that turned the game into pay-2-win.

I thought that was how that entire game stayed afloat, but kinda shocking given how much they put into that monetization strategy.

I remember my old userid but not the password. Kind of like Neopets, at some point the spreadsheeting/grinding sucked any fun out of free2play.

@thatdawnperson I got a membership while I was in university, once things settled down a bit. I remember idling chopping trees while working on calculus homework.

I read this short story about the Spanish Civil War yesterday in my print edition of The Collected Dorothy Parker, and it's worth reading if you need fortifying in light of the rise of fascism around the world right now.

Someone actually argued, “Desktop Linux can’t take off because Xorg, Wayland, ALSA, PulseAudio…”

With respect, that’s inside-baseball. Most people don’t think about that, and they don’t need to.

What they actually care about is simple: “Can I easily do the thing I want to do?”

I’ve been using SteamOS and now Bazzite for three years. It’s just as straightforward to browse the web, edit an image, write a document, compose music, animate a video—and now play games—as it is on any other OS. In some ways, it’s even smoother.

People aren’t evaluating display servers and audio stacks. They just want an operating system that gets out of the way and lets them do their work. And on that front, Linux is finally delivering.

My 2013 MacBook Pro was stuck at Catalina and starting to refuse software like Signal.

Ubuntu Linux brought it back to life and promises ten more years of usefulness before it's e-junk. Plus it’s refreshed my love of tinkering and coding my own stuff. Linux has had its frustrations and annoyances, but no more than any other OS.

And I didn't pay a cent for it.

in reply to Chris Trottier

like I always say, “No one actually uses an operating system. We use apps. An OS should boot and just get the fuck out of my way.” I have used Steam OS for about 5 years now, before that Ubuntu and Debian for a decade. I barely even touch my own Pipewire except for the VERY niche setup I have as a streamer with a 2 PC setup. Most days I just boot up, record, use KDEnLive to edit, browse, and play games on Steam when not tinkering.
