After years of sorting through what feels like an endless amount of possessions and grief, I'm almost at the stage where I can put dad's western suburbs house on the market.
The gotcha is, I've no experience with real estate sales at all. There are a million real estate agents out there, and while they all seem nice, I've no idea how to sort the good from the bad. There's lots of advice out there, but it all seems to be written by the agents themselves.
Any advice (including recommendations) on picking an agent is appreciated.

Here's what worked for us in a similar situation.
We asked for a proposal from two real estate companies. One was a long-standing leader in the local market. The other was a newbie with only two years experience. Both made in-person presentations and left us with a written proposal. We discussed the two options carefully and decided which to go with.
