I know I've shared Tennessee photos already twice today. But here he is right now, fingertips away from me, looking so adorable my heart just bursts. :blobcat_heart:

A close-up shot focuses on a person looking down at something out of frame. They are wearing a dark green, ribbed knit beanie hat with a small rectangular patch on the front, and purple-framed glasses. Long, blonde hair is visible beneath the hat and around the face. The person is wearing a dark purple shirt, and the background is blurred, appearing to be an indoor space with out-of-focus lights. The focus is sharp on the person’s face and glasses, creating a sense of intimacy.

We've got a new and improved prototype out and looking for player feedback!

Journey the cosmos delivery cargo and dodging asteroids. What might you find along the way?

Big new feature is shooting and destroying asteroids in flight, the sneak peak feature is space stations to explore. Under the hood there's now an internal map of the cosmos so distances are no longer random and the game knows where you are; even if you don't.

Expensive repairs are making it impossible for people to maintain the vehicles they already own. Simple fixes that used to take minutes now cost thousands or force you back to the dealer.

Took me 2 hours, but this scene seems to actually be *done!* And holy cow, my word count for tonight is 261, not negative. What the hell, I'll take it.

Is Veilid good?

Is it better than IPFS? (I've started to worry that IPFS is maybe not very good.)

in reply to mcc

so, ipfs is pretty specifically a distributed CAS, but Veilid is application sync, so they're not really comparable?
in reply to AstraLuma

ipfs is not a distributed CAS it is 7 layers of half-assed protocols they copy pasted from anything that seemed like it would play well in marketing copy and the most half-assed local db i've ever seen with yet another half-assed CAS interface slapped on top
in reply to d@nny disc@ mc²

So I guess a clearer way of phrasing my question is "if I start developing something atop Veilid, will I find myself slowly regretting the decision, like I did with LibP2P?"
in reply to d@nny disc@ mc²

key features from wikipedia:

Versioned file system: Supports file versioning and allows users to track changes over time.

Interoperability with distributed applications: IPFS seamlessly integrates with decentralized applications (dApps), offering a robust storage layer for blockchain and Web3 ecosystems.

cdc doesn't fuck with cryptocurrency. even if their individual architectural decisions are suboptimal they won't sell out

my brain cache was completely purged when i looked at this post and i thought you meant a different cdc and was real confused
