Buddhism isn't polytheistic in the traditional sense, but incorporates numerous deities (Devas) from Indian tradition, seen as transient beings or protectors, not ultimate creators, including Brahma, Indra, Yama, and the Four Heavenly Kings, alongside enlightened beings (Buddhas & Bodhisattvas) like Guanyin (Avalokiteshvara) and Manjushri, who guide towards enlightenment rather than granting salvation. Different schools (Theravada, Mahayana, Vajrayana) emphasize different figures, but common ones include wisdom figures (Manjushri), compassion figures (Avalokiteshvara/Guanyin), wealth gods (Jambhala), and fierce protectors (Dharmapalas) like Yamantaka, all serving to aid spiritual practice.
