The reason I treasure the imperfections in the circular shape of the tea bowl is because I know the person who made it was trying their best to make a perfect circle, something impossible to do by hand, even with a wheel. So the imperfections tell a story.

But someone wrote an article in some "Home" magazine about "wabisabi design" and now there are all these tea bowls with *deliberate* imperfections. I hate it.

Give me the machine made bowl instead.

And don't call me a hipster. I'm mad.

I feel like artist Dave Zackin nails this one. He admits he's rubbish with a pottery wheel, so he upcycles other people's unwanted pieces into.... uh, well, it's certainly unique.

He's hilarious, and *boy* is he a great example about every handmade piece telling a story.

Well, shoot, if people are doing it on purpose, then I better not do it by accident.

Two of the bowls I got back recently are perfectly round and two are slightly oval

Couple of random thoughts.

1. I think there are only so many times you can type the words "wearing a Santa hat" before EVERY WORD LOOKS WRONG

2. I think I am thinking too much about how comfortable the VIRTUAL hats will be on the VIRTUAL ears of animals

Anyhow. Onwards.

Phenomenon… Phenomenon. Pheno-men. On. Phe-NOM. E? NON. Phen. Omen. On.

@boxofsnoo Oooh, I didn't know it had a name. Thank you, I am pleased to know this.

(also, as an aside, if someone says phenomenon that many times here the obligatory response is "Do doo be-do-do" in the style of the Muppets response to Mahna Mahna 😁 )
