an interesting update: the team is starting to move away from AI coding completely (devin/claude/etc) because it's so much harder to review the AI code than writing things themselvesNitter

this gets ambient light and the tank light turns on morning and evening, so I can enjoy it lit up when I'm home
I think I would struggle with algae with window light
moss is key
and you have a smaller selection of fish, let me see if I can find a writeup
but you can see I started with a cheap little 10 from Petco and some rinsed pea gravel
I did buy it a nice light but you could do something very similar with a hardware store grow light
the snails do all the work in this one
they came in on some plants and I have to cull them from time to time when they get out of hand
having so many plants and so much gravel is the best control
I wish I'd put more gravel in the 29 when I set that up, when I had another inch or two in it it stayed MUCH cleaner
gravel is magic and also cheap
here's some good choices for cold tanks
tho the dojo loaches, while super fun to keep, are invasive in the PNW and illegal in Oregon

So, given WP is willing to sell all its users down the river for some quick "AI" buzz, what fedi-enabled alternatives exist for human-centric websites? therepository.email/wordpress-…
I know of write.as, plume. They're too ascetic to match the brief. ClassicPress could be an option, provided the WP-ActivityPub add-on works with that.

Dan Feidt for Unicorn Riot: What’s the take away from today?
Anthony Maki: I expected escalation [from law enforcement],
but I think they delivered a bit more than my expectations.
Matt McRee: I would agree with that.
Maki: I went out of it after having heard that it was happening through a Signal chat.
I started thinking, “I’m going to go outside and check out what’s happening.”
I woke up Matt.
We started getting ready for about 15 minutes,
and I was prepared for anything to happen,
I guess.
But I didn’t think arrests were very likely

Now, I'm not a hunter so I can't say I know about the validity of that, but I _am_ a software developer, and I can ensure you that I -- at least in part -- do not think think about problems in order to code, I code in order to think about problems.

2 years, better late than never I guess.
Back in early 2023 I was giving the then new copilot a try in some FE tasks.
I used it for about a month or two before I realized it was wasting so much of my time debugging insidious little edge cases and gotchas.
Never touched it since until recently for some unit tests, had to rework 90% of them.

In what world was it considered ok for a Dev to crank out 60 PRs a day of code the Dev didn't writethem self? Like did no one foresee the issues with that?

by the time I have debugged and refactored the code I didn't write so it's ready to commit, it would have been faster to write it myself.
