The Biden administration may have shot the serif,
switching from Times New Roman font on the grounds that serif-less fonts such as Calibri are more accessible to readers with disabilities.

That’s all over now.

The State Department Action Request reads:

“To restore decorum and professionalism to the Department’s written work products

and abolish yet another wasteful DEIA [Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility] program,

the Department is returning to Times New Roman as its standard typeface.”

I wish there was something like car servicing but for houses. I have no idea which of the weird noises and tiny plaster cracks in my house are a sign of a problem and which are just that the home is kinda old. It would be so useful to every couple of years to have someone who knows what they’re looking at climb into the roof and under the house to check everything is in order and make minor fixes
in reply to Joanna Holman

@sarae I’ve often thought of this an extraordinary need. Buildings do need scheduled maintenance but there’s no qualification in that you need to live in a house.
@Sara

I could totally provide this service

were I not on another continent

(the last time I looked at skilled work immigration for Australia, they were like thank you no we have plenty of people with your skills)

Epigenetics and Rare Diseases by Lorenzo Emmi & Vassilios Fanos, 2025

#Epigenetics, as well as all -omics fields of study, such as transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics, have caused a revolution in all branches of medicine in recent years. This book provides a detailed evidence-based overview of the latest developments in how the recent acquisitions on the human genome and epigenome is relevant, and how it impacts our understanding of rare diseases of the immune system.

If this is to be the medicine of the future, I would then argue that medicine should right away aim to collect the greatest number of genetic/epigenetic/metabolic information possible, interpretable by means of machine learning and deep learning techniques.

The new interpretation of neurodevelopment also appears to be of enormous biological, clinical, and epistemological importance, in light of the possible epigenetic modifications already occurring in the early stages of fetal development

On the basis of this interpretation, we can begin to believe that many pathological events taking place in the course of adult life are, so to speak, already “written” in the first moments of development. However, this should not lead to a deterministic view, but to the ability to perceive a window of opportunity of great importance in this all.

View of Kluane National Park and Reserve from Haines Road, Yukon Territory.

Since I don't think I will ever cross the border down south again, I am looking north and dreaming of visiting Yukon.

Sweet dreams.

#PhantastikPrompts 12.12.
Sophia: Ja.
Vi: Ja.

Ziemlich mordlustige Truppe 😂

in reply to Sonja Tornefeld

ja definitiv keine DND 'Helden' Gruppe. :D

Donald Trump has filed an executive order asking federal agencies to fight state AI laws including using tactics like withholding federal funding.

The AI boom is the only bright spot in the Trumpflation economy and he’s going fight tooth and nail to keep the bubble inflated.

For #bloomscrolling I wanted to share this hedge of #Camellias that I saw today on my walk in Downtown #BatonRouge #Louisiana. Camellias are such great winter plants, they are evergreen, and actually bloom in the winter months.
