The assassination last week of Yasser Abu Shabab is more than a lurid gangland hit. His killing at the hands of his own disgruntled militiamen is a clear representation of a policy coming undone.
For months, Israel stitched together a sordid alliance of convicted felons, former ISIS affiliates, and opportunistic collaborators, presenting them as the embryo of a local governance alternative to Hamas in Gaza.

The cats think I'm puckered up for a kiss?
I don't mind cat kisses to the cheek, but no full on lips and definitely no tongue! 😽 They probably wish to be fed?
Would you kids like breakfast? Is that a yes? I'll be right there ..
Happy #Caturday, eh!

My wife just said to me “If you imagine the song ‘Feliz Navidad’ in an English Scouse accent, it sounds like ‘Police nabbed me Dad’”.
I’ll never be able to hear that song the same way.

International forces could be sent to the besieged Gaza Strip “as early next month” as part of Washington’s ‘peace plan’ for the enclave.
“The International Stabilization Force (ISF) will not fight Hamas. Lots of countries had expressed interest in contributing and officials are currently working out the size of the ISF, composition, housing, training, and rules of engagement,” the sources said.

#WritersCoffeeClub 12/12: Who is a writer whose life inspires you?
It kinda depends on how you define "writer." Not a lot of famous novelists leap to mind, but can I say David Graeber? Audre Lorde? Namdeo Dhasal?
Mostly, though, I'm inspired by the efforts of writers like the ones on this platform, who are scared sometimes, discouraged sometimes, frustrated sometimes, hurt sometimes, and yet are strong enough to pursue their love of the craft anyway.
Because that's how I want to be, too 💙
#WritersCoffeeClub 12. Who is a writer whose life inspires you?
The reason to pay attention to a writer is generally their writing, and I tend to avoid reading autobiographies.
I can't think of a time when I read a book because of hearing about the writer's wonderful, inspiring life (or terrible, inspiring life), but there have been times I began avoiding a writer because of some revelation about them, or because their writing left a bad taste in my mind.
I really get whiplash between (1) my home country that is so small everybody feels compelled to leave and is mostly able to (2) where I live now, in the heart of an empire where people rarely leave nor are they able to
The first time someone asked me for advice on ‘how to travel internationally’ I was so confused. I had never considered that travel could be *not* international. I used to get 2 different counties’ cellphone signal if I stood in a certain way at a window.
If I walked from my home for maybe 90 min I would get to another country
I have a very different experience to both. I live on an island from which it is very easy to travel to other countries. But growing up in Britain (not Northern Ireland), borders between sovereign states were completely alien to me.
First time I ever crossed a land border was when I was fifteen, on a school trip (by coach) to the Rheinland. And Schengen had been in place for many years by that point, so the border wasn't really noticeable.
I've still never been across a land border where you might have to produce documents of any kind (I'm not counting the Eurostar, although I suppose technically that is crossing a border by land, but it's really a maritime border).
US intelligence officials temporarily suspended sharing some sensitive information with "Israel" during the Biden administration amid concerns over "Israel’s" conduct of the war on Gaza, Reuters reported, citing six people familiar with the matter.
In the second half of 2024, the US cut off a live video feed from a US drone operating over Gaza that Israeli authorities had been using in efforts to locate captives and Hamas fighters.
