On Friday Dec 13, 1985, I went back to see the local USAF recruiter. I just separated from the USAF on Friday Sep 13, 1985. The recruiter had to get 3 prior service people to re-up. I was his 1st of the year. He said since I got in at the 90 day mark, I would be getting a nice reenlistment bonus.

When I got to the MEPS in Boston, the guy said you’re not getting a bonus, your specialty was dropped off the list. My wife said WTF? He said, need a moment?

I signed up. Retired 23 years later.
