I’ve never seen anyone who complains about government spending on healthcare or student loan forgiveness bring that same energy to military spending.

The Pentagon has failed 7 audits in a row accounting for $4T in assets. Yet the department of war’s budget keeps going up.

I've wanted AMOLED phones since the 2010s (my teenage years). People had them. At that time, AMOLED phones were usually expensive and only available for flagship models. As of now, I have had two AMOLED phones. The first one was bought for me by my mum (which a random troll on Lemmy.world never contributed anything to me except harm).

Read about foot-binding practices in China, which apparently endured more than a millenium. Seems so outrageous, irrational, absurd... But hey, just look at most modern shoes. They are not exactly ergonomic whatsoever. We are in fact under a disguised, industry-normalized foot-binding practice.

although many of us have feet that were deformed to some degree by ill fitting (and often 'fashionable') foot wear there is still a much wider variation in foot shape than many modern shoe/boot designs seem to allow for. Even where manufacturers allow for wider fitting shoes there is still a lot of variation is how 'pointy' or 'blunt' our feet are, how narrow or wide they are at the heel and how high we are over the instep.
None of this is helped by shoe sizing that is inconsistent. My comfortable shoes vary between a claimed EUR 43 and an EUR 45 and then we get into the complications and inconsistencies of declared US and UK sizes. I wish they'd simply state what the foot length they are designed for. Only a few do.
