Iran News Today: Arrest of Narges Mohammadi Raises EU Concerns byteseu.com/1627143/ #Conflicts #Iran

Irgendwie haben sich diesmal ein paar Fördertürme unter die Lebkuchenpersonen gemischt.

Am I going crazy or something or is there are only like 100 people on this site.

I feel like this is a small town and everybody knows everybody.

If by "this site" you mean .ART specifically - there are more than that, but if you're not checking the local TL at every hour of every day, you'll likely see a subset that does feel like it's around that much. Similarly, if you're using hashtags to find people, you're likely seeing only the subset that uses those tags.

But there are definitely way more people than that if you look beyond .ART's local TL or other specific sub-communities. I'm guilty of not doing that enough.

I'm not getting the "everyone knows everyone" feel though. There are definitely groups of people who know each other (often across servers too), and there are people whom you'll see post a lot and thus come to recognise, but if anything I feel like there's not enough interaction, feels more like a hundred separate little bubbles, many of which are 1-2 people, largely because many people on .ART just post art without making an effort to talk to others.

I've been publishing some of my "orphaned papers" on Substack. Here's one I originally presented near the end of grad school, then refined, circulated among Thomist colleagues (who liked it quite a lot), but never got around to sending out to journals

Neither did I, I'm embarrassed to say. I learned it by reading Wikipedia and a handful of other links. I'm excited to learn more! Bit by bit I've been going back in time to learn more about where ideas I've taken for granted came from.

I don't think this is a reasonable comparison between X and Bluesky. i also believe it's fomenting strife where it doesn't exist. Finally using AI to generate memes removes any possible value a meme can have, and that is a critical thought produced by a human using an entertaining image. AI destroys all of that.

Don't use AI.

Basic bee facts every day at 3pm.

# 235

Most #bumblebee species native to cooler/temperate regions historically tended to be univoltine - they produced only one colony/generation per year. However human caused #climate heating is now impacting upon this norm.

If it's bumblebees, that sounds like good news.

But, of course, all overwintering species are headed that way. Ticks, gnats, flour beetles.

A wide, horizontal photograph depicts a calm body of water nestled between steep, snow-covered mountains. The water reflects the surrounding landscape, creating a mirrored effect and a sense of depth. The mountains on either side of the water are rocky and appear very high, with patches of snow clinging to their slopes. A few small vessels are visible in the distance on the water, near the center of the frame. The overall tone is cool and muted, with a slight haze present, and the light source appears to be behind the viewer, casting a soft glow on the water's surface.

You know

the whole #ActuallyAutistic thing and missing social cues

i already figured out that people attempted to flirt with me many times and i thought they were just being very friendly

(everything worked out in the long run, don't cry for me argentina)

but

recently

like

yesterday

it occurred to me that people have attempted to mug me on numerous occasions

i thought they were just being very rude and kept walking

"no it's my wallet you can't have it, have a nice day" kinda stuff

Hilo has Resting Grumpy Face and @sbourne is concerned people don't realise how happy she is. Hoping a hat will help. It's definitely provided an immediate toy - that bobble is positioned for a good THWACK!
