Do you need an escape from the 21st century? Of course you do. May I suggest you find Fackham Hall and watch it?

If you like period drama, and you like Mel Brooks and you’ve always wished that such a combo existed, well…Feckham Hall.

Is it High Art? No. Is it an utter sendup of all the overwrought period dramas? Oh yes. With a joyful cast of some of Britain’s finest. Some reviewers disagree with me, but they are wrong. It’s a delightful way to unwind.

@ryan Maybe? I'm guessing cause I haven't seen Scary Movie, but have seen bits *about* it. :)

Remember when the Pythons were funny? And they would poke fun at their own class of entitled prats? It's that. Jimmy Carr wrote and produced a lot of it, and it shows. Think Carry On movies set in Empire England.

Unboxed my #Plushtodon Mastodon plushies this morning. Their larger sibling is at home as it shipped last week. These two had to hop the pond and be signed for at the post office this morning.

My review: 15/10 ⭐️
They are so soft, squishy and best of all no odd smell. Plushies sometimes smell and need to be aired out. Wherever/however these are manufactured, they are scent free which added the extra 5 ⭐️

Not pictured are two awesome sticker sheets from #Mastodon #MastodonMerch

I had a fascinating conversation with Wilson Lin about FastRender, the browser rendering engine he built with the help of 2,000+ coding agents over the past few weeks. It's 47m on YouTube or you can read my highlights here: simonwillison.net/2026/Jan/23/…

@slightlyoff "The JavaScript engine isn’t working yet " probably makes running WPT quite challenging :)
in reply to Fabrice DesrΓ©

@fabrice But Simon's post suggests it integrated *several* engines, including QuickJS.

Browsers are hard, but yeah, I'm really trying to understand why you wouldn't bootstrap on the highest quality end-to-end test material ever developed for a massive layout system. But maybe they did and it wasn't in either their blog post or follow-ups?

I really wish someone who broke into the e.g. AMD PSP would explain how they did it

not because I wanna write malware, but because there's an ARM CPU in my PC that I paid for then dammit that thing is mine and I'mma program for it 😑

in reply to R.L. Dane 🍡

@rl_dane > AMD PSP

The platform security processor. Similar to Intel's Management Engine thing.

It's the ARM CPU they use to turn on the actual CPU and also, probably, to run their own spyware

in reply to pixx

Ah, of course. That horrid bit of kit. ;)

Maybe collaborate with @libreleah to crack that horrid nut? XD
