Cool screen savers

I came across this old IBM screen saver on a old machine and thought it was pretty cool. I set it up on my work laptop, but not Im curious if there are any cool linux or other screen savers you guys know?

It's better to just put the display to sleep when it's not in use anyways. We only used screensavers because CRT monitors took so long to fully warm up.

i forgot which desktop-environment/window-manager it was (icewm?) but it had a nice collection of old screensavers like the pipe maze and the bouncing marque and starfied warp and flying toasters, etc.

it was almost 20 years ago so i assume that ms or apple would have come suing by now

I would bet your right. One of the best collections of screensavers out there. I know they work on X but I haven't yet tried on Wayland. Guess when I get home I'll give it a try.

yes, there was an additional package you could install that came from the project that worked with xscreensaver

Now there's some nostalgia right there. I haven't seen that since, what, 1998 or something?

I got a free shirt with this around 2010 and thought it was a new thing

From outside their new NY office, you can see a room with We 🧡 A 👁. I guess they keep their ideas. They probably don't have too many new ones.

It is very cool! I paid for a gold membership a few months back after using it on & off for years. So far I think it was worth it.

It did take a bit of configuring to get it working with xscreensaver tho.

Anyone remember the castaway? The adventures of a guy on a one-tree desert island.

Honestly, play around with Xscreensaver - that's a fun collection. I've currently settled on the Apple II screensaver and have a custom Python script pip Star Trek scripts to it.

The Nakagin capsule tower one is awesome, too.
