Also a huge warning: friends don’t let friends register .pe domains.

> This ccTLD's rules allow anyone to buy the domain 12 days before it expires.

That feels like it should be outright illegal, but these lawless days who knows?

what a rediculous policy! The old owner should at least get some notice before they suddenly lose tenancy

tbh guppe really outlived itself as a stop gap solution for Fediverse's inadequate specifications and software. There should've been a lot more work and traction towards groups and communal features in general in Fedi. Instead, parasocial Twitter and Instagram clones dominate. (Sent from one of them, :fatyoshi:)

Not just .pe, but "CH, .ES, .FR, .LI, .PE, .SG, .COM.SG, .COM.AU, .ORG.AU, .NET.AU" according to the source linked there: namecheap.com/support/knowledg…
in reply to Craig Stuntz

@CraigStuntz Of course, at least for .FR, this information is fake news. You can check by yourself on the registry's Web site:

Seems like the registrar reselling it should just adjust the expiration date they present to the user to account for the effective expiration date.

Also, ICANN should slap them down. Aren't there supposed to be unified policies on stuff like this?

Generally be careful of registering country code domain outside your own jurisdiction.

@aslakr .com has entered the chat ;)

(But yes, good advice; or at least to avoid the dodgy ones.)
