In cyber-security, the red team plays attack; the blue team plays defense. Martin Hench, the protagonist of Cory Doctorow’s latest too-close-to-home-for-comfort thriller, Red Team Blues, was born to play attack.
Y'know how "#realist" became a synonym for "#asshole?" As in, "I'm not a racist, I'm just a #RaceRealist?" That "realism" is also used to discredit the idea of democracy, among a group of self-styled "#LibertarianElitists," who claim that social science proves that democracy doesn't work - and can't work.

This: “ Realism is a demand dressed up as an observation. Realists like Margaret Thatcher insisted "there is no alternative" to neoliberalism, but what she meant was "stop trying to think of an alternative."
Reminds me of that Churchill quote about democracy being the worst system except for all the others we’ve tried. It’s absolutely about killing critique and exploration of alternatives.
Also: “The Ostrom method – actually studying how something works, rather than asking yourself how it would work if everyone thought like you – is a powerful tonic to this, but it's not the only one.”
This is one reason anthropologists sometimes claim Ostrom as one of our own. She was doing what we do.
You might be interested in Anand Pandian’s book, A Possible Anthropology, where he makes this kind of argument about the role and value of ethnography.
I also connect this (in some early stage work, not close to publication) linking anthropology / ethnography and futures research.
I think perhaps you mixed up some links. The link following the section stating "the Asch effect is 'folklore'" appears to be about backlash. Quite curious to see the link about Asch.
