We bullied HP into a minor act of disenshittification: Score one for the ink-stained wretches.

Here in the darkest days of the enshittocene, enshittification is low quality and plentiful, but even in this target-rich environment, one company stands out as pioneering champions of enshittification: HP.

"$10,000/gallon, meaning that you print out your grocery lists with colored water that costs more than the semen of a Kentucky Derby winner." Nothing beats a great analogy.

HP needs get erased. After Fiona took over it became a shitshow of a once good company.
Remember that they did fundamental research?
The only reason they have been enabled to build ink printers at all?
Because someone researched drops?
All that is gone. No invention since about 25 years.

Printer ink now runs over $10,000/gallon, meaning that you print out your grocery lists with colored water that costs more than the semen of a Kentucky Derby winner.

I think the recent move to 'ink tank' printers (that don't need cartridges), at least in the UK, is very interesting. I had to buy a new printer recently and there were a lot of options from all manufacturers including HP... Presumably because many people (including me) just have had enough and now refuse to buy cartridge models. A good example of an effective backlash to enshitification?
