I better point out that old Max Weber was no theologian. The Wikipedia entry on The Protestant Work Ethic cites Exodus 20.1-10 as a text supporting overwork, when the purpose of the text is precisely the opposite!

Yes. I've always thought that arguments based on that particular part of #Weber's work are a little bit convenient. In the end Weber's conclusion could go either way. Not a particularly solid logical proposition. But it's certainly interesting and does raise some good points about the cultural embeddedness of #Ideologies.
