I wonder if hanging around with Ms "A spoonful of sugar" has had a positive effect on longevity?

Heavy drinking in your youth seems not to hurt. Ask all those '60s rock stars.

I stumbled on a salute to Van Dyke by accident last night - our PBS ! - divided into early life, accidents, radio, movies, TV.
Impossible not to be bowled over by the talent and "suppleness". All his co-actors, producers, co-writers etc. love him.

So 1) it rings true about his 'positive outlook' (DNA too, of course) - and 2) He said yesterday how he's heading full speed ahead, doesn't want to stop. Then I saw stories about his hitting 100 and it all makes sense, the tributes & media. 👏

My grandmother took up movie and TV acting (mostly in commercials and foreign films) in her early '90s. She always wanted to do something (of an acting nature, but I wouldn't put something else past her) with George Burns. She also did belly dancing right up to the end.

My mom lived to 89 with her mostly positive outlook; so I do think "positivity" has something to do with it. (Damn).

If it's any comfort to you, my mom is 97 - always active and energized, but TBH, not always entirely 'positive' / sweetness and light. But mostly... ;-)
