Whirling spike clubs is one way to get rid of tailgaters on the interstate.

100% accurate, but the “today” started 15 years ago.

I saw a documentary on this trend just the other day. Some journalist named... Max? He was very angry.

The only solution I see is to pass a law that in case of accident, the heaviest vehicle bears all liability.

I'm waiting to see when someone will go shopping in a tank just to be safer than in a SUV.

cars should be designed to sacrifice the driver's life to save others. the driver chose to get behind the wheel, so he should have to bear that risk.

@Kierkegaanks it’s been studied. “when you compare 12-foot lanes with 9- and 10-foot lanes, you see that the wider lanes are actually more dangerous. The number of crashes on a street with 12-foot lanes is significantly higher than on streets with narrower lanes.”

In most cities, 4-lane streets are now 3, with the center used as a turning lane (NOT a passing lane to go by the pea-brained driver oblivious to ALL).
Perceived congestion is higher & the SUVs hog space & precious visibility.
90+% have ONLY 1 occupant (in a mini-schoolbus).
I'd rather have to follow a "predictable" Freightliner.
SUVs SUCK... big time❗️😠

This reminds me of a car safety expert who said, "You know what would improve road safety and prevent accidents? If a razor-sharp spike would be sticking up from the steering column of every car, aimed at the driver's throat, a few millimeters away from it."

Many or most bike riders here don't seem to care about their safety. In these dark evenings with heavy traffic and impatient drivers rushing home and focussed on their mobile phone screens I'm almost the only bike rider wearing a helmet, a reflecting "neon" vest and equipped with bright lights on my bike and helmet. However, the problem will presumably solve itself. In accordance with the Darwin principle careless riders will tend to remove themselves from the gene pool.
