#NowPlaying Diving into another #MilesDavis maelstrom. Possibly the most difficult/angular/discordant of the six 1970s double live releases? Steve Grossman on soprano sax really going for that screamy free jazz vibe. He doesn't draw a breath for half an hour at least.
Back then they called it 'jazz rock' (no doubt for marketing purposes), but, to my ears, it crosses over much more with atonal, experimental/avant-garde classical than it does rock.

this is #Miles boiling down the formula that started with #BitchesBrew almost to its absolute essence - once he got Reggie Lucas on Agharta, Pangea and Dark Magus then that was the arrival at the dark heart of it all. I love it, but maybe not every single day, it's pretty intense, as you say.
