ICE plans mega-concentration camps. If in your state, do all you can to prevent them from happening. bloomberg.com/news/features/20… 1/2

And they're definitely going to do it because Stephen Miller has invested in prison stock.

ORLANDO!?! But it’s the happiest place on earth! I’d love to see Disney raise hell about this, but I’m a realist so I know that won’t happen.

The lawsuits in the coming years should bankrupt these private prisons, hopefully.

The one proposed for Shakopee MN is getting community pushback, including from the state rep, and the property owner says both of their buildings are still available on the market (i.e. not under contract to ICE or anyone else).

The cities have little power to stop them.

The Hanover County VA (Ashland, in the article) government voted against it and published its response letter here: hanovercounty.gov/m/newsflash/…

Hopefully the owners won’t sell to DHS.
A member of Richmond Defensa spoke at the meeting and specifically named the current owners; alas, I didn’t record his comments, and my memory isn’t that good.

Orlando's mayor, Buddy Dyer, is a good man and a Democrat. He is powerless to stop this, and ORL has a very large immigrant community.

here's a related WaPo article that includes addresses archive.ph/ZOFbz

some additional context about Hagerstown:
the city is often described as a blue city surrounded by a deep red county. Washington County was host to "The People's Convoy" during the pandemic lockdowns wjla.com/news/local/two-more-t…

also, the region has longstanding ties to the KKK:

of course fucking NH signed up. I feel like every politician there has forgotten their motto of "Live free or die" New England's mostly liberal but for some reason they've been like "yeah but what if we kissed bigoted republican ass?!" for years now.

This is good. The camps will be needed when MAGAmoron, his criminal cult, all the MAGAt supporters and all their MAGAt families are rounded up.
in reply to Heidi Li Feldman

Bloomberg, too, needs a new headline writer. ICE is not spending millions on **warehouses.** It's buying and building prisons for people who should never be in one.
in reply to Heidi Li Feldman

That's why they're putting the one for Chicago in Indiana and the one for Boston in NH.

@benroyce They are not building ‘prisons’ (which would imply due process had been followed) nor ‘warehouses’ (because they’re not storing commodities or goods), they’re building good old fashioned concentration camps. Doubtless the main objections will come from the NIMBYs.
in reply to Heidi Li Feldman

Instead of buying warehouses, they should be paying their debts:

🇺🇳🇺🇸 The UN is facing financial collapse due to non-payment of contributions by member states, Secretary-General Guterres said.

As of the end of 2025, the arrears on contributions had reached a record $1.57 billion. The Secretary-General warned that the UN could run out of funds by July.

Currently, the US debt is $2.19 billion to the organization’s regular budget, $1.88 billion for active peacekeeping missions and another $528 million for past operations.

It's incredible, when you think about it, billions of dollars taken away from program that helped people to later invest them in programs that hurt people.
And they continue to say they protect Christianity? Their actions are the opposite of what Christianity stands for.

Organizing works! This is a win for public pressure, and a message about the moral clarity Canadians want from politics right now.

Now we need legislation to ban all Canadian companies from contracting with ICE or otherwise supporting Trump's kidnapping and deportation machine. And Parliament must pass Jenny Kwan's bill to close the U.S. arms export loophole – so that no Canadian armoured vehicles, weapons, or equipment end up in the hands of ICE to brutalize people.
