🚨Starting Dec 16th, Meta AI will read your private messages - unless you opt out now! 🚨

Opting out is hilariously complex, but we've got you covered:

1. Go to Meta Privacy Center on DESKTOP
2. Privacy Policy
3. Other Policies and articles
4. How Meta uses information for generative AI model and features
5. Your right to object
6. Learn more and submit requests here
7. Tick: I want to object to or restrict...

Oh, and @noybeu is already on it: tuta.com/blog/noyb-meta-ai-is-… 🍿

Oh, and on WhatsApp, you can't even turn it off... tuta.com/blog/how-to-turn-off-…

So they're not even pretending they can't read WhatsApp messages?
in reply to Tuta

You forgot #DeltaChat, which is an excellent alternative to WhatsApp.

So the only thing we should do is to boycott WhatsApp and switch to XMPP, @matrix or @delta .
in reply to Tuta

... and if you do all that, they'll just refuse your request anyway.

thanks for the heads up. Here's how to do it on mobile:

- Navigate to Privacy Centre. On Facebook this will be under "settings and privacy". On Instagram this will be under "settings and activity"->"more info and support".

- In the privacy centre, search for "more detailed information about meta's generative AI models" and select it.

- Scroll down to "Your right to object", open and click "Learn more and submit requests here" which open the objection form.

- Do note that this form asks for yet more personal information about you, rather than just linking your objection with your account :/

Great instructions! Gonna get to it right now... oh... wait... I didn't ever use or get dependent on any of "those services" in the first place. I'm such a lucky bastard.
in reply to Tuta

This only tells them you don’t want them to read your private messages. It is not a technical solution that prevents them from reading them.
in reply to Tuta

Care to specify where in their announcement they state that they’re going to start using PRIVATE messages to train AI (effectively breaking end-to-end encryption)?

Because from what I can read on your own blog post and on their announcement post is that they’re going to use PUBLIC data and interactions with Meta AI..

I feel sick why people still using Meta… Someone keep attacks on Deaf family on Meta it is very dangerous.
in reply to Tuta

I don't use Meta, but this looks like the location of the plans for the demolition of Arthur Dent's house, "..on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard'."
in reply to Tuta

You may want to clarify these instructions only work in the EU (GDPR) and possibly the UK. There is no right to object in the U.S. version of the site since the country has no national data privacy law.
in reply to Tuta

It gets even more ridiculous! They request that you provide them with *evidence* "..about whether an AI at Meta model has knowledge of you."

This is pure mockery!

Maybe going to
facebook.com/privacy/genai
short-circuits some of those steps?
in reply to Tuta

Meta has been reading everything since 2015. If you have a Meta app on your phone, they started their straight spyware with FB Messenger.
in reply to Tuta

Nice - your right to object isn't an option in Canada. Plonkers.

I agree people should get off Meta but for these who, for whatever reason (e.g. work or family etc. Use the following guide: avast.com/c-turn-off-meta-ai)
