🌳 Pine martens belong in Cumbria and are cherished by many as an important part of their natural heritage. They support forest health by balancing populations of small mammals and preying on invasive grey squirrels which reduces the spread of squirrel pox virus and allows the native red squirrels to thrive.
🤝 This initiative is a partnership between the University of Cumbria, Forestry England, University of Leeds, The Lifescape Project, and Cumbria Wildlife Trust.
