Do Dems need to throw gays, lesbians, and trans people overboard to win elections? No. What Dems need is to look towards our community, particularly the trans community, for the sort of courage and moral leadership and American values that can get them winning again.

Trans people - 1 percent of the population - were hit first with a wave of far right propaganda, then an onslaught of hostile laws in GOP states, and in the first months of the Trump admin literally erased from government records, our passports and freedom of movement threatened. Did we falter?

Did we tremble? Did we hide? Did we silence ourselves in fear of an authoritarian nightmare that wants to trample us on the way to trampling the freedoms of all Americans? No sir. Not us.

Huge banks, corporations, and Universities bent the knee. Democratic politicians mewled in fear. But not us. Never. We said death before detransition and fought on. Keep your eyes on your trans neighbors, America. We can remind you what courage means. We'll show you how to resist.
